In the Moment With Red Skies Mourning

Hi Red Skies Mourning! Thank you for chatting with me today! You are about to release new music! Will you tell us about the new song?

In The Moment was just released today (2/28). Moving slowly toward the direction we really want to go, blending genres and just wanting to create great music! You have such a refreshing sound! How did you cultivate that?

Ryan(Co-writer), Cesar(Production) and I(Chris, Singer/Songwriter) started off throwing around ideas and directions.. at first it was Indie Pop Rock, but we also wanted to blend other genres within R&B, Pop and Hiphop and see what we can make with all that. We really liked "Deep Moonlight" and our now 7 and 8th song are focusing on that. "In The Moment" is song 4 of now 8. Do you have a song that gets you energized no matter what?

The A-Team Theme? Lol depends on what mood I am in and which genre. Wutang - C.R.E.A.M. and Reunited or As High as Wu-Tang Get, Tupac - All Eyez on Me/Skandalouz/How Do You Want It, Alice in Chains - Them Bones, Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast or The Evil That Men Do, Merauder - Master Killer, Meat Puppets - Backwater, Dream Theater - Erotomania, In Flames - Episode 666, Hi-Five - I Like The Way, Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart, All Out War - For Those Who Were Crucified, Strife - Blistered, V.O.D. - Element, Rare Essence - Body Snatchers, Metallica - Master of Puppets.. there's a ton, just depends on the genre, the era... as I'm all over the place. What keeps you motivated?

Singing, writing, working with great people. How do you keep a balance between artist life and normal life?

There really isn't much of a balance, music is a way of life so it's either my day job or music. What has been the most surreal moment of your career?

My music career hasn't kicked off yet, so my IT Career has been great as I'm a Sales Engineer. What people don't know is I blend my songwriting into my day job. When I talk to customers about the technology, I typically blend in stories/songwriting into it. Do you have a dream bucket list job you would like to achieve?

I would love to be a supporting artist on a tour, and tour globally. Is there a particular artist or artists whose careers have been influential in how you approach your work and how you envision your career?

Alice In Chains(Layne and Jerry), Chris Cornell(Soundgarden, Audioslave, his solo stuff), Post Malone has risen really quickly, which is great as he's a good artist. I do like Marshmellos stuff as well. So the blending of genres, new and old but really focus on being current. What does 'making it' look like to you?

Touring for now or even breaking even from this huge investment I made in myself, the brand(Red Skies Mourning) Do you have any career advice for artists who are just starting out their music career?

Don't have an ego, be open to constructive criticism, be your worst critic and always look outside in to really get a good idea of how people may perceive the music you write, so you can also get a better understanding of you. You will all need to grow thick skin and always remember there are those that may try to put you down, try your best to ignore and keep excelling. Any upcoming projects coming up that we should be on the lookout for?

Just working on Red Skies Mourning... the newest release "In The Moment" is song 4, we are wrapping up Song 7 and the production is done for song 8.... so we'll see how it all progresses but definitely fun! Please let our readers know where to find you!
